At our large annual family reunion we have a small auction to raise money (to put in a fund for the next?!
Answers: years postage, rental of area, paper products and etc.). It's so much fun trying to out bid each other for such a good cause. Most bring homemade items. This year I would like to bring some type of food item but not already made (something the person could bake themselves). Does anyone have any ideas for me??
What a wonderful idea for a family reunion. I just might steal that! I think I have just what you want.

1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Recipe To Attach:
Pour brownie mix into large mixer bowl; stir. Add 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) melted butter or margarine, 2 large eggs, 2 tablespoons water and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract; stir well. Spread into greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Bake in preheated 350° F. oven for 18 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool in pan on wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar. Makes 2 dozen brownies.
Butterscotch Chip Cookies in a Jar
1 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup high protein crisp rice and wheat cereal
3/4 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Layer the ingredients in the order given in a one quart wide mouth canning jar. Firmly pack each ingredient in place. It will be a tight fit, but all ingredients will fit in the jar. Use pinking shears to cut an 8 or 9 inch circle from gingham, calico, or a seasonal fabric. Place the fabric over the wide mouth lid and rim and secure with a rubber band. Tie on a raffia or ribbon bow to cover the rubber band. Attach a card to the ribbon or raffia with the following mixing and baking directions:
Empty jar of cookie mix into a large mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup of butter or margarine, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. Use hands to mix the wet and dry ingredients together. When completely blended, roll into large walnut sized balls. Place on unprepared cookie sheets and use the palm of your hand to flatten each cookie ball. Bake at 350 in a preheated oven for 8-10 minutes.
Spiced Tea Mix Recipe
1? cups of orange breakfast drink (like Tang)
? cup iced tea mix
1? cups white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground ginger
~ Makes about 4 cups ~
Jar Decoration:
1 quart (or 4 cup) glass jar
eyelet lace trim or something similar
? picot ribbon or raffia
2 or 3 short cinnamon sticks
white glue or tacky glue
Instructions:
Stir all ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Pour into the quart jar (a funnel is useful for this but not absolutely necessary) and cap with a screw top lid, firmly screwed down.
Print the Spiced Tea Mix label shown at right and cut it out (with fancy edged craft scissors, if you have them). Use a paper punch to put a hole in the top right hand corner. Cut the lace trim to fit around the jar lid, adding an extra inch. Glue lace in place around the rim of the lid, overlapping the extra inch of lace at the back. Alternatively, you could cover the lid with a circle of lace or pretty fabric tied in place with the ribbon. Tie ribbon around the lace on the jar lid, then tie the ribbon around the cinnamon sticks so that they appear at the front of the jar. Thread ribbon through the punched hole on the label and tie in place with a bow.

In a saucepan bring 2 cups water and 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper to a boil. Stir in the contents of one jar of the dried mix, return to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 19 to 20 minutes or until rice is tender. In another saucepan heat 8 ounces of tomato sauce and one pound of fully cooked smoked sausage that has been cut into 1/4 inch slices. Add one pound of medium, peeled, deveined shrimp and cook until shrimp is pink. Combine both pans. More tomato sauce may be added if mixture is dry.

Hope everything turns out well and you have a great time!
What about one of those jars with all the ingredients for bean soup???? They are very pretty and contain everything for the soup too.
There is a great cookbook called "Make a Mix" by Nevada Harward, Madeline Westover, Karine Eliason -you can buy it or just pick it up at the library. Aside from the typical bake mixed it has great spice mixes for Tacos, meatloaf, salsa, etc. Good Luck!
You could make a fondant covered cake. Just be sure to use marshmallow fondant. It tastes so much better. You can learn how to make it by going to youtube and typing in how to make marshmallow fondant. You can get really creative with it and believe me, everyone will be impressed and want your cake.
