Fool-proof way to open an jar?!

Question: Does anyone know a good way to open a jar? (I've tried running it under hot water and banging it with the back of the spoon.) Thanks!

Get a butter knife and wedge it under the lip, it will make a pop.

(once its under the lip, keep tip of knife there but lever handle up until you hear pop)

Yes I have a pop topper. It realeases air so it opens
very easlily.Try putting the spoon handle under the lid to let the air escape .Good luck or buy a gadget to help you with this problem .

Having worked in restaurants all my life and when we need an ingredient we can't wait. What we do is either (carefully) whack the side of the lid rotating it in 2 to 3 places on the edge of the counter or whack top of lid in dead centre with knife handle. I think back of spoon will not give you enough pressure to release vacuum caused by lid. Enjoy!

(In order of how I negotiate with stubborn jars)

1. Whack the bottom of the jar with the heal of your hand.
2. Run lid under hot water.
3. Use a grippy pad or towel to twist off lid
4. Find a strong man! (and when he gets the lid off, tell him you loosened it for him)

What do you mean? like a jar that fool's can not open because it is fool proff or a jar that is impossible to open?

anyway, try running hot water for ages, jabbing the jar with a knife (hoping that will loosen it), using a towel or getti smeone realy reall really strong to do it for you.
