Is it illegal to pick fruit from 'public 'trees in Spain?!

Question: I have visited Barcelona a number of times and see lemon, lime and orange trees everywhere in the city.
Are there rules about picking the fruit?

My mother lives in spain, and she says the locals sit at cafés and wait for the tourists to pick the oranges. They are especially looking forward to seeing the tourists faces looking like crumbled up pictures of themselves - because the oranges are pomerans; they have a fiercly bitter and unpleasant taste! One can sugar-pickle the peel, and use it in cakes and jams.

The lemons are real lemons - my mother's friend, who lives in Andalucia, has a lemontree right outside her kitchenwindow! How great is that! :D

Only on wednesdays and bank holidays.

no i dont think ,, cause wen i visited there ,, i did and no body stopped me,, u can do it but yes u have to ask a locla person ,,,
