Black sports mixtures, opal mints/polos and pot noodles?!

Question: Do the manufacturers really carry out any research before they decide to change formulas or get rid of things.

I loved black aniseed sports mixtures before they changed them to blackcurrant flavour and there's nothing comparable to opal mints now either.

And now that they've taken all the salt out of pot noodles does anyone else find that they're tasteless unless you add your own .
