Are chips good for you at all coz there made of potatoes?!

Question: well they would be if you made them homemade..
but any modern day processed snack is really unhealthy, they fry them in bad oil, and add so many preservatives, colorings, additives, that you might as well eat the package they come in...
but if you made homemade chips.. just slice or even chunk up some potates.. toss them in a little olive oil, sprinkle with some spice of your choice, like BBQ seasoning, or cajun seasoning.. pop them in the oven and bake at 350F for 30min, turning once throughout.. then they come out baked golden, and nice tasting...

Some kinds of potatoe chips are healthier if you eat them in moderation :]. A lot of brands have been making chips with no trans-fats, and also baked chips as well, so that's always good. Also, some chips are made with sunflower oil like Lays -I think that regular flavored Lays would be healthy choice/snack, but in moderation. Maybe you could also enjoy them by dipping them into something healthy like hummus or salsa.

Well chips are mainly fried in oil and are therefore high in saturated fat. Also, to make chips, potatoes are cut into small pieces/slices which have a large surface area to volume ratio. When they are fried in oil you will probably be eating more of the oil than the potato itself. Potatoes themselves are a nutritious food, but it's what you do with it that can make it unhealthy.

Im not really sure.. but if me and my friends hang out we usually have chips and ice cream. i think it all depends on how much you consume, since chips have lots of preservatives that could harm one's body...

Chips do have some nutritional value such as potassium, but the high salt and fat content negate any benefit.

potato is just starch.......chips are starch covered in salt....

never give chips up for lent. cause you will crave them. they are sooo good.
