How do farmers know an egg has a double yolk before cracking it open?!

Answers: Doing my weekly shop earlier and saw some 'double yolk' eggs. How can the farmer tell its a double yolk before opening it?

You hold the egg to a light and you can see inside. thats how it done on the farm. it. a small box with a 100w bulb shining thru a hole a little smaller than the egg. you place the egg over the hole and you can see inside
usually down to the richness of the feed the hens are fed then they test those eggs though a light sauce
they hold the egg up to a bright light
in-built farmer sense. xxx
thats an interesting question, don't know the answer though sorry but it reminds me of when my daughter bought a box of eggs from the supermarket, organic free range, and everyone was double yolked.don't think there was anything on the box saying they were though.
like teke, says, thats your answer,as i seen a programme on it.some still do get through to the consumer though.
they hold it up to a very bright light and the egg becomes iridescent and they can see if it has two yolks or one, but the yolks are usually small since they are basically split into two....
Eggs are candled or held up to a bright light in a darkened room and examined to see whether or not they are
a: Fertile
b: Anomalous - having more than one yolk.

if you shake it then it will feel heavy.
the first egg a chicken ever lays is always a double yolk
All eggs are placed infront of a bright light and it is possible to see the shadow of the yolks!
With a method called 'Candling'. Originally was passing the egg in front of a lighted candle and you can almost see inside the egg. A bit like an x-ray view.
