Prawns? taste/freshness?!

Question: Just wondering, but why do some prawns have that very fish smell/taste to them but some dont? is it the freshness of them? Example, every time i get prawns from this chinese take away, they taste very fishy, but the prawns I get in the supermarket do not have that very distinctive fishy taste/smell. Is it because some are prefrozen? is it the freshness of the prawns? They are all tiger prawns just some taste very different, why? yeah, not the most intellectual question, it just made me curious... and dont come back with the silly saying that prawns taste that fishy because they come from the sea, as not all prawns have that distinctive fishiness...

it is probably the way they have been stored, but usually prawns have a pretty distinctive smell that isnt fishy. you will know their freshness by seeing how plump they are, if they are quite tight then they should be fresh. othrwise, it is probably just cos they have been stored in a particular way

if any fish is really smelly it is not fresh also if it is slimey best to eat fish on the day of purchase to be safe

Any seafood that smells fishy is way beyond fresh.
