Chocolate marshmellow Easter eggs?!

Question: I bought two boxes of Chocolate marshmellow Easter eggs. When we opened it we saw that the chocolate has an almost white colour and the chocolate is very brittle around the marshmellow. It's not old. The expiry date is 08-08. I think it stood in the sun for a while. I tasted one and it's a little bitter. I want to throw it away, but I'm afraid someone picks it up, eats it and get sick. Do you think it could still be edible?

The problem occurs when the item has been in contact with heat, the cocoa butter separates from the solids causing a white grayish colour to sit on the top of the outside of the egg, i don't think it will cause you any harm but you wouldn't enjoy it as much, just throw it away, or if your worried about someone getting hold of it just run hot water over it in the sink and it will melt away, problem solved, just buy yourself a nice bar of chocolate its cheaper anyway and enjoy.

yes i think it is still edible
did you put the chocolate in the fridge?
because sometimes i do that and it turns whitish..
and i'm perfectly healthy
as to the bitter taste
is it dark chocolate?
dark chocolate is sometimes bitter

Toss it. It's not worth someone getting sick.

i would take it back for a refund or ring the company and voice my opinion

for god's sake

Yes, but the thing to do is to take it back to the shop and/or contact the manufacturer with your complaint.

This is bugging me. Marshmallow. Mallow. Mallow.

its something to do with the sugar coming out of the chocolate. its still safe to eat, iv eaten chocolate like this before and im still alive lol

U should do what ever u feel comfortable with, but i wouldn't risk my health on something that might be poisoning on my stomach. If u throw them away, it their own fault for being sick, if they're going through ur bin 4 food.

If the date is still intact, then I would write to the manufacturer and tell them you want your money back. Also ask for refund of postage because they might want the whole box returning. I wouldn't risk giving them to my kids if they taste bitter. Just send them back.

choc marshmellow sounds good. if it is white (not the mallow) then it should be fine. mabe get a gullible friend to test it first.

I would phone the manufacturers or go back to the shop, I wouldn't risk eating it.
