Why do people say "milk is for baby cows"?!
Answers: Humans drink milk even though other adult animals don't. We also drink coffee, tea, beer, wine, soda etc.
Actually to the poster above me...there are many instances of wild animals sneaking milk from another animal. Also, other animals don't drink from their parents after they've grown because they can't sit at a stool and milk w/their hooves (pretty obvious stuff). We do alot of things that animals don't because we're humans.
Factory farms and breastmilk aside.....milk in its raw state (unpasteurized and unhomogenized) can be very good for us and even for those that are allergic and/or lactose intolerant but most places have outlawed raw milk because it can be dangerous if not handled properly.
I think people are referring to the fact that a cow's milk is for cows...like human milk is for humans. Do you see any other species in nature taking the milk of another? Not only that, but drinking it LONG after the initial growth stage?
Nope. Only humans.
It's pretty demented when you think about it.
...because it is. Just like my breastmilk is for MY baby. A cow's milk is for HER baby. It's really not meant for people to drink. It's meant to grow a little calf to a few hundred pounds...and don't even get me started on the cruelty of the dairy industry and factory farms, absolutely terrible stuff.
Lactose intolerance in adults is common...allergies too...cow milk is hard to digest and it also causes the body to produce mucus...
