Answers: I have bought Organic Milk which expires end of May, but normal milk its difficult to get past two weeks.

Perhaps it is treated with ultra high heat processing (Like Parmalat). This is the treatment used for milk products sold in the boxes. It is also used for tomatoes and some other products.

---cay's response (right below me) is the exact opposite. You're saying that organic has a expiration date one month away whereas regular milk is 2 weeks at best. How can the ABSENCE of preservatives make milk last longer? And if it did, WHY ARE WE USING PRESERVATIVES

Is it UHT milk? The expiration date on UHT-milk is extremely long.

I have never noticed a difference in expiration-date - but I always buy fresh milk.

Theres no preservatives in organic.

We purchase Organic milk, and I understand what you are asking...it lasts quite a bit longer. I think it is because it is ultra-pasteurized.

I have always wondered this too! We always buy organic now because it last for weeks longer then regular milk. I have no clue why but I'm anxious to see the answers!

it doesnt have chemical;s in it that atracts bacteria

organic milk comes from local farms, very close to the store you bought it from.

Regular milk is mass-produced in mega-farms, which might be hundreds or even thousands of miles away. Regular milk therefore has a lot more handling and travelling and paperwork until it finally gets to the final destination.
The amount of time that organic milk spoils vs regular milk is the same. The difference is how much time is wasted getting it to the dairy case.

It should be the other way around If it's longer there has to be a preservative in it and that would mean it's not really Organic
