In dairy, try low-fat yogurt or low-fat motz sticks;
The best fruits for dieting are berries (low carbs);
In veggies, the darker the green, the better the pick;
Whole grain breads and wild rice are great choices;
I love salads made with lots of fresh veggies topped with fresh lemon juice from 2 lemons, the zest off the 2 lemons, 1 T olive oil and 3 T Splenda, top with chopped walnuts - I could live off this salad, and it's a great travel food. Good Luck!

for dairy try lowfat and reduced sugar yogurts
for fruits try oranges
for vegetables any leafy green, the darker the better
for grains oatmeal and rye
alternatives..... chicken, pasta (it is very low cal and filling, just watch what you put on it), tomato sauce, lean pork....

Dairy: Organic milk (I personally think whole is more sustaining than skim..skim leaves you hungry.), Organic Kefir, organic plain (sugar-free) yogurt, naturally low-fat cheeses such as farmer's cheese, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, baby mozzarella, feta cheese, or any other watery cheese. Avoid hard cheeses. Eat cheese in small amounts.

Fruit and veg: Any fruit or veggies that you like. Avoid potatoes, peas, carrots, corn, or any other starchy vegetable. Grapefruit is said to speed up your metabolism and help you lose weight. Eating apples (especially eating one before a meal) also helps to fill you up and eat less.

Grains: Whole-grains only! Buy whole-grain breads, like whole-wheat, whole-rye, whole amaranth, etc., whole-wheat pasta, brown rice, whole-grain couscous, whole-grain hot cereals like oatmeal or a mutli-grain mix, and whole-grain cold cereals like Nature's Path or Kashi.

Alternatives: ? Don't know what you mean. There are no alternatives to healthy food!
