Does eating cheese before bed really give you nightmares?!

Question: if so why?

Answers: if so why?

No but it gives you smelly farts... mmm i love smelly farts ..

i dont know why.....but it does to me.

ahhhhhhh extra calorieeeees!

They say it does. It is to do with the fact your belly is digesting the food all through the night so therefore keeping your body too active and causing nightmares. I don't believe it myself.

I have heard that alot too. I think that eating any food before bed can give you nightmares but I am unsure as to why.

It is a fallacy.

Cheese does excite the digestive system and so might make it difficult to sleep, but otherwise, no.

Cheese does not give me nightmares but for me is very indigestible if eaten late at night, therefore giving me a very uncomfortable night.

I dont think so, but it may give you gas

Eating too much of anything is not good for you. Eating too much before bed is REALLY not good for you - this is why. Your body goes through various cycles during the night and day, and at night, while you're asleep, the fixers and repairs teams come out and do their shift. They're primarily concerned with how easy it is to get the goodness out of food, and my mother, when she was losing weight with Weight Watchers, was told to increase her protein intake during the day, so although you should make your last meal balanced in favour of protein, an all protein meal is not so good. Chicken's okay, and so is a steak, but cheese is normally 50% protein and 5o% fat, and that is just too much for the night shift.

this isnt gana be the most helpfull answer, but i often have cheese on toast be4 i go to bed (cuz im cool like that) and i cant say iv eva had a nightmare after......most night i cant even remember ma dreams....so i would say no it does'nt.

no, I've deliberately tried it a few times and it has never worked

Yes it's HORRIBLE AHHH!

No....
thats weird though.
Do you eat it like RIGHT before you go to bed?
if so that may be causing it. But it's not just cheese, its every food but cheese is harder to digest so that would be why it is having more of an effect. But anyway when your body is digesting, you can't sleep well and sometimes it does cause nightmares. so ya. :] good luck!

I've never heard of that. I LOVE cheese, and it has never given me nightmares.

my food never did anything bad to me. but it might not be good for the food...tee hee hee.

No it doesn't. Must be an old wives tale.

That is what they say, although eating anything that is fairly heavy to digest before bed is going to disturb your sleep due to you trying to digest it, when you should be sleeping. This may not necessarily give you nightmares, but it is not really helpful if you want a restful sleep.
