How do i become!? a food critic, restaurant reviewer?!


Question: i am currently writing restaurant reviews in my local area, but have no qualifications or expereince. I'm planning on sending my reviews off to the various publications through out the UK and hoping someone will commision me to write for them.
any tips ?

prove you know what your talking about , you have to be willing to eat some things people would consider disgusting also + you have to be unbiased about these foods . that's very hard to do . would you eat mountain oysters w/o being biased ? you cannot be a good critic unless you can be totally impartial . some qualifications would be a plus

I do not know this answer 100% and would recommend doing some google research.
However, I am sure you need some food background. YOu need to have a mature palette and a vast knowledge of food.

The best I can advise is to show them that you are very passionate in a cover letter when you summit your articles...
Be fair, interesting to the readers... Oh tell them you do it on a trail bases, to see if the readers like your articles....
Be resilient and don't give up.... Keep writing on the Internet, Build a following ...

start by getting a journalism degree. it's tough to get that job. it's the most sought after job at the newspaper. you get to eat at good restaurants for free and they treat you like a king because they want a good review. so basically it takes good luck and timing.
