Did any of you see The Elephant Man on C4 last night?!
Answers: I can still hear the pig squealing. It will haunt me forever. Why cant animals be slaughtered in a more humane way?
id like to know what the pig had to be shown for anyway?it had nothing to do with his story exept that it was being killed to feed the mourners of a neighbour who had died. totaly unnecessary to have shown the poor animal being killed in such a brutal way.i agree with you .it was barbaric and the screams will stay with me too
I saw that programme and felt SOOOOOOO guilty for moaning about the spot on my nose!
and yes the pig squeal was disturbing.
i saw that and i was horrified? i cant believe the showed summat that disturbing on TV. that squealing was awful!
i cant believe people in other countrys live like that. i cant belive that they think it is ok!?
Hi I saw it and was quite surprised by the pig squealing, I was only expecting something visual, not screaming!
Perhaps that form of slaughter was just a traditional thing and when they want to kill pigs for meat they do it differently? I'm not sure, but it wasn't nice :(
OMG...that poor animal...im disgusted that this was allowed on TV without PRIOR WARNING!!! I was sooooooo upset by this poor animals suffering that I could not watch the rest of the programme...it was very disturbing indeed!!
GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER CHANNEL 4!!!!
The issue of the programme was not about animal rights?????
It was part of their tradition, and they live in the poorest parts of china, where were they gonna find a butchers think about it. Not everyone has the facilities and the equipment to do it in a humane fashion.
It was suppose to Highlight the plight that a young man has to face everyday of his life. I was in tears as this man had to suffer with his condition. Even at times he finds life hard he overcomes his sorrow as all he want to do is live a normal life, and help his family ! GGGGGRRRR
Yes, but not sure what has to do with food and drink
I was watching this documentary until the announcer said about the pig.
Because of that I turned it off and never put it back, so missed the rest of the show.
It's not necessary to show scenes like that, the state of the poor man was bad enough to stomach, never mind animals getting chopped up too.
As for those criticising people like me talking about the 'pig bit' - I don't expect to see things like that in a medical documentary, I find it upsetting - the pig has no choice in the matter. And it doesn't mean I have less sympathy for the person involved, just because I care about animals too.
If they hadn't shown that, I wouldn't have missed what seemed an interesting show. I did think the parents saw him as a waste because he couldn't care for them, it was the other way round.
In almost any other country his ailment wouldn't have been allowed to become so debilitating.
