What's the best Rootbeer to use for a really Good Float? Recipies welcomed?!

Question: It used to be "real" A&W from the fountain, until they got bought out years ago. Now IBC would be my first choice, but modern A&W would be fine in a pinch.

A&W
fer sure
its amazing.

I've always used A & W, but my husband likes Barq's. Put three scoops of your favorite vanilla ice cream in a tall glass. Fill with cold root beer. Enjoy. Now, if I don't have a can of root beer, I will be very disappointed.

Thomas Kemper and 2 scoops of Dreyers Vanilla Bean or French Vanilla.

A&W was the best at one time , I would have to say Barq's now . I still like to use RC cola as well

Barq's cause it has bite.

Barq's is a great choice. Like others said, A&W was the ish back in the day, but it just doesn't taste the same anymore.
If you want to try something a bit different, you could do a "float" with cherry Coke. It has a good flavor.
Cheers!
