Why is maple syrup so expensive?!

Question: y? is it rare or something?

Answers: y? is it rare or something?

Maple syrup is sap from the maple tree that has been boiled until much of the water has evaporated. In the beginning of the sugar season it takes 20 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup, and at the end of the season, it might take up to 50 gallons.
Maple- flavored (or pancake) syrup is mostly corn syrup with artificial flavorings.
Nothing compares to the real thing. Save the maple trees!

The process it takes to harvest 1 pint of pure maple as opposed to store brand pancake syrup thats mostly made of corn syrup is a job that only a harvester can do and it takes time

Maple syrup is Maple Sap which is tapped from mature trees. The amount of Syrup from a single tree is limited and requires much labor to bring from the trees. Also, there are periods where sap can not be tapped, like late fall through mid spring...

Interesting thing is that Maple Syrup can be produced at home should you have the correct types of trees available.......It is expensive, but REAL maple syrup is a much better syrup than the molasses based syrups readily available on store shelves.
