How much do you spend on groceries a month?!
Answers: I have a family of 4 with an infant who uses formula and spend around 400 if not more, and my husband does not understand this.Is this too much?
Holy **** -- my boyfriend and I spend $200 to $250 per WEEK. (He eats only meat and potatoes, which makes groceries cost triple what they normally would).
If you're getting out of the grocery store for less than that, with a family of four, you're doing something right. I don't know what he thinks you should be spending, but $50 per week for four is getting into UNICEF territory. $100 is exceptional.
I live alone with a Yellow Lab and spend that much.
It's just my boyfriend and me and we spend anywhere from 250-350 a month,so I think that's really reasonable. He likes a lot of snacks and I like lots of fresh fruits and veggies and we eat steak a few times a month...
I'm one of four siblings, and their are 6 of us in the house. we're like you and send over 400 a month. its INSANE! we use coupons and only go for deals, and we still end up with a ton of money spent. With the rising gas prices, everything else is getting higher in prices.
me and my fiance spend around 200 a month, and its just us 2. so if you are a family of 4..then thats about right.
I have three step kids, and a husband and between the 5 of us - groceries alone cost about $400.00 a month!
Thats not including toiletries for all of us, and then household cleaners!! But we can make those last about a month
But every other month a trip to get EVERYTHING we need at the grocery store will run us about $550-600 at the most!
i don't think so because i spend at least 300 a month and the formulas are expensive well it depends on what kind u get..............nope their expensive
There are only two people in my household and I spend about $1000 a month. Some of that may include household cleaners, etc. Food is expensive!! Especially if you have an infant. If I were you, I'd keep all your shopping receipts for the next month. Add them up and show them to your husband. Men need cold hard facts.
Formula is expensive! I have a family of 3-one being a teenage boy and I spend between $500 and $600 a month and believe me-we don't eat anything extravagant. The price of food (and everything else) seems to be going up every week! $400 a month for a family your size almost sounds like below average.
well my mom spends 200 2-3 times a week 6 people
but no formula or baby stuff
Holy moly! I admire your thriftyness! Please tell me that that budget doesn't include diapers and wipes! (I hate it when they try to include those items as part of the grocery budget) Take your husband shopping with you and show him how much everything costs. A lot of guys who don't shop just don't realize how much the price of things have gone up.
We're a family of 5, one of which is a 12 year old, bottomless pit of a boy, and I sometimes spend close to $700 per month. Formula is a big expense. I remember noticing a HUGE difference in spending when my kids went moved up to whole milk. My husband used to be the same way... He's just given up by now : ) Sit down with him and show him your receipts. He really needs to understand how expensive things are getting. And I don't think it's going to get any better in the near future. Another idea is to try taking him with you when you do the shopping OR give him the list and let him do it.... He'll get it!! Good luck!
Family of 2 with a dog, we spend $300 a month. That includes toiletries, laundry/cleaning products, and dog food.
your shopping well then food is going up along with everything else
Ok, I would give him a list and the responsibility to do the shopping for one month and see what he can do. Sometimes men do not understand if they are not actively involved. Once he sees how it is for a month, he will probably shut up and think you are doing a great job!
I don't have any kids, it's just me and my husband, I try to go shopping every other week and i spend 150-200 every time I go, so I would love to know how you keep it so low, with 5 people to feed, where do you live, do you clip coupons, do you wait for sales, what are you doing that I should know about?
No, it's pretty cheap considering how old your kids are. Don't worry about it. As long as you're getting fed well, it doesn't matter anyway.
A 150-200 dollars a month on groceries.
I live alone with my two cats and a dog. So sometimes I need to go over a bit and buy more pet food for them.
Sometimes they enjoy the food I eat too though so, depends.
