Why does string cheese seem to taste better when you peel off strands rather than biting off chunks?!

Question: The reason strands taste better is because the cheese has a lot of salt in it. When you peel off the strands, there is far more cheese surface area (and salt) exposed to your taste buds.

it sure the heck does... for all these years I thought I was crazy... you hit the nail on the hammer there. its a texture thing right?

Funny question...I think because if you shred it in strands, you get a better taste. Come to think of it, I don't know either?!!!!

That is SO true! I think the 2nd answer sounds a bit right, about the salt and everything.
