toss it after 2 days. remember non moving water stinks. bacteria and stuff can grow in your bottle.

Anything that is vacuum sealed at the factory is done so for a reason. Once water or anything liquid based is exposed to air, any bacteria that was in the air has been introduced to the liquid.

If you want to see something gross, go take some of the water and put it under a microscope....would scare you off from drinking even hours old drinks.

If you put the cap back on, it can stay ok for a couple days. I keep one in my car for times when I don't have time to stop to get a new drink all the time.

It's just water. Half drunk bottled water could probably sit for weeks and it would still be okay to drink. Sure it may have some bacteria but it's completely harmless.

BTW, while were on this topic let me bring up another good point. I highly encourage folks to refilll bottled water rather than opening a new one. I usually use the same bottle all week long. It helps out the environment and saves you a little money.
