Fiery Habanero Doritos give me the hiccups when I eat them, Why?!

Because of the spicyness. Whenever I eat jalapenos, hot sauce, or pepper jack cheese I get hiccups too

hiccups occur when your diaphragm and your lungs breath out of sync. so maybe the spiciness of the doritos are affecting your breathing and dissyncopating your breathing organs

Because the spicy capsaicin in the habaneros stimulates your phrenic nerve in your esophagus. The hiccup reflex is a response to an irritant, be it a lump of food, or intense spice, or even very hot or very cold drinks.
