Well as the uncoated shell comes out of the oven the side to be covered in chocolate is at the bottom. the side with the writing imprinted in the biscuit is at the top, so if you go on when the base is baked then the chocolate is on the bottom. It is coated on the bottom and then turned over as soon as it comes out of the enrober, clever stuff!
But as it seems that once it is coated then you dont really want chocolate to become spoilt or "scuffed" so the chocolate side then becomes the top.
This is my opinion on the matter and opinion only. I do work for a place that makes this product so hopefully it is of some guidance and guidance only. You could debate on this all night, but i do believe its what the individual likes to perceive as which is right.

Baz

definitely on the top lol
no doubt

mmm...thats made me hungry!

On the top I think. It would be harder to dip the biscuits in the chocolate without making it look messy, so it must be spread on top.

got to be on the top yummy yummy im off to get a brew and a few choc digestives now

Unless I'm mistaken, the chocolate coating is on the flat side of the digestive biscuit -the one with the ridged markings- and not on the side with the stamped words.
Since the words appear on the top of the biscuit, that would make the coating the bottom of the biscuit.

depends which way up you eat it!!

On a standard digestive I would say the top is the side with the words on it, but when chocolate is added I would refer to the chocolate side as the top.

Despite this I feel the biscuit should be eaten with the chocolate side down for maximum taste pleasure.

The chocolate side is of course prone to melting and generally with biscuits/cakes/sweet snacks etc the side that melts is the top, giving the consumer a dry under side to hold the biscuit or cake without getting sticky fingers.

Face !!!!!
Bothered !!!

hmmm. exellent question. i reckon its on the bottom cos the writing is on the top, if it was on the top you'd have to turn it upside down to know what the biscuit was called!?!?!?

On the top defiantly.

its on the bottom as there is still the name of the biscuit on the top. and the bottom of a digestive is flat and that part always gets covered.

on top

i think even mcvities would tell u that

all over you cant have too much chocolate

its definitely on the top of the biscuit..its only coated at one side in plain, milk, or with chocolate..but now a days its usually topped with caramel, mint chocolate, orange flavored chocolate or plain chocolate..i got it from the net..hope it will help..

I've got this mental picture of scores of "responders" inspecting their biscuits!

Simple, it's applied to the bottom of the biscuit but the product is designed to be waten with the chocolate on the top, that way the chocolate doesn't melt all over your hands.
