Does anyone make homemade french fries at home ?!

INGREDIENTS
2 1/2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon onion salt
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup water, or as needed
1 cup vegetable oil for frying

DIRECTIONS
Slice potatoes into French fries, and place into cold water so they won't turn brown while you prepare the oil.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. While the oil is heating, sift the flour, garlic salt, onion salt, (regular) salt, and paprika into a large bowl. Gradually stir in enough water so that the mixture can be drizzled from a spoon.
Dip potato slices into the batter one at a time, and place in the hot oil so they are not touching at first. The fries must be placed into the skillet one at a time, or they will clump together. Fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

I do, although not very often. I stay pretty busy, and that is a time consuming job. Whenever I do manage it, though, it's worth it. I use my Fry-Daddy, so it's not quite so messy.

It is simple, select a cooking pot that is deep enough to hold about six inches of cooking oil. Heat and place one piece of your sliced potato in in until it bubbles freely. Now place hand fulls of your sliced potatoes in oil until nice a brown. place on paper towel when cooked to absorb excess oil. Salt and enjoy.

i bake them on a stoneware bar pan.
just spray them with olive oil, salt and pepper.
this is a healthy alternative. you can even make them from sweet potatoes. yum yummy yummmmmy. you really have to watch them or they will burn pretty quick.

I hope this isn't wrong but in UK we know them as CHIPS!
They have their own pan 'The Chip Pan' you can still buy these. many now use a deep fat fryer with oil.
Chip pans are full of lard that sets hard - some people use beef fat- suet. The fat is melted everytime you make chips.

There are chip shops too! Fish and chips was the national Take away before Curries and Chinese took over.

As for French fries these are the skinny continental chips that you get in Fast food joints like Mc Donalds - we can buy them frozen in UK and plop them into deep fat fryers. I imagine they would be hard to make as they are made from formed processed potato and then coated ready for frying.

All the time, well, not all the time. when i have chips, they are home made ones. i think home made are best. but, i love hot chips on the way home from school on freezing cold days and hot chips after soccer practice or matches.

Yeah. I cut the potatoes into french fries, and then soak them in water for a minute. I rinse them off and dry them. Then I toss them in oil, and throw them on a foil-lined cookie sheet. Put them in the oven for about 12 minutes, and they're ready.
