Why is it so hard for me to open those heads of lettuce packages?!

Question: Why does it take me like 10 minutes to open the luttuce heads? Why do they tape it closed? I would just cut it open, but I don't want to ruin the lettuce.

Cutting it open is the obvious answer and if you are careful and just slide the scissors under the cellophane, no harm will come to your lettuce.
Stop fiddling with it!
Lifes too short!
