Question: If you happen know know anything about Nutrition please help!?
OK I eat a Salad for lunch almost everyday!.!.!.!.Not for any diet reasons just because I really do like salads!.!.!.
well I was thinking about it today
"Is My Grilled Chicken salad really that healthy for me!?"
here is what was in it today!.!.
7 lettuce salad!. grilled chicken, about 2 tbl spoons of Catalina dressing, some shredded cheese, pinch of salt pinch of pepper, and 2 chopped green onions!.!.!.(just the green part)
Is this really better then a big mac!? I mean after I put the other 'stuff'' in it does it start taking away from the nutritional value!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
it is deffinately better than a greasy burger!. chicken has more protein and gives your body more nutrition than beef!. The calories and fat in the dressing is also a more healthy kind of fat than a big mac that drips with heart clogging grease!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is my favorite website for looking up nutritional information on the foods I eat: http://www!.calorieking!.com/

For example, if you wanted to see the stats on that dressing, you'd type it into the search and read over the results!. Unless you're drowning that salad in cheese and dressing, it's definitely lower in calories and fat than any burger!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it probably depends upon how much shredded cheese is in it!. If there's not really a lot in it, it's definitely a healthy salad!. As long as you keep your dressing to 2 Tbs!., it sounds like a great salad- much better than a Big Mac definitely! You could try adding more veggies for nutritional value and to keep you full longer if you have an issue with that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There isnt too many things you can eat that are worse than a big mac!. lol!. If half your salad is cheese then that might not be healthy!. Some cheeses have less fat in them!. also its a good thing to opt for lo calorie dressing, or just not drenching the salad!. Its okay to have a little bit of fat and calories!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That sounds like a very healthy lunch!. the only thing I think you added that did not add nutritional Value was the catalina dressing!. you have Good carbs in the mix!. (lettuce and pepper) protein(chicken and cheese) good stuff!. some suggestions I would make is fresh green soybeans, Feta cheese!. A great dressing I like uses a base of olive oil and Lime juice!. also about your lettuce!. the darker the leaf the more nutritious, which means plain ice berg adds almost nothing but water and a little fiber to the dish!. CheersWww@FoodAQ@Com

Other people have given web site where you can calculate the actual nutritional value!. And of course it depends on how much of each component you use but in general you are way ahead even with all the "stuff" compared to a BigMac!.
Of course the other stuff takes away from the healthy aspect but if you enjoy you food why not!.
This is actually a pretty good question!.

Ok, I'm going to be perfectly honest!. I work ar Arby's and when it comes to eating a salad over fast food!.!.!.you need to be careful!. A normal Arby's salad has 497 calories in it! Can you believe it!? 497! A regular roast beef has 200 calories which is better than eating a salad!. When you start putting more and more ingredients into your salad, yes, the nutritional value does decrease!. Things like eggs, bacon, cheeses, croutons, meats [ham, chicken, beef]--things like these will make your salad less healthy!. But it's not just what you put in the salad, it HOW MUCH you put in it!. Too much of anything is a bad thing!. Too much dressing [which you should try to use fat-free dressing], too much cheese, too much anything will make your salad bad!. You salad actually sounded pretyt healthy because you did not use a lot of anything in it!. I commend you!. Grilled chicken is also naturally better than fried!. So I think your salad is healthy!. Just watch what you put in it and how much! L) Good luck!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
