What is that layer of grease on top of freshly brewed tea?!

Question: What is that layer of grease on top of freshly brewed tea!?
I only see it when I brew black lipton or other black teas such Ceylon tea from Sri Lanka!.

Never with green tea!.
I brew it in big tea pot and when it cools down slightly, the top of the pot is covered with this layer of thin grease, kind of like when soup cools down in the refrigirator!.

Any idea what it is!? Is it bad to drink it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Tea contains oil!. The oil comes out when the Tea is brewed!. You will see more when hot water is used as opposed to sun tea!. you will still see some with sun tea though!. Better tea has more!. and it is safe to drink!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yuck, never seen that before maybe the pot was dirty!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I see it too!. I have no idea!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's the water!. It happens with hard water!. If you live in a soft water area it doesn't happen!. It's fine to drink, just leaves a mark in the cup!. But sometimes I will pour it out because those first few sips taste better without it!.

EDIT - It really is the water!. Boil water in your kettle and have a look at it when it's still in the kettle, before you've added anything to it!. You will see there is a surface residue if you hold it near the light!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

An unclean pot
improperly washed cup or not rinsed well and is soap residue!. the spoon not clean!.!.!.!?!?!?
