What is salt water taffy? Why is it called that?!


Question: What is salt water taffy!? Why is it called that!?
And is there really salt water in it!? I didn't think we could consume salt water and be ok!. I know when I've swallowed salt water in the ocean I didn't feel too good LOLWww@FoodAQ@Com

I saw a show on Food Network about salt water taffy and they said that it was actually NOT made from salt water!. At least not the "sea water" like what it sounds like!. It probably has a bit of salt as most recipes do!. But it got it's name because it was first made on a beach or coast!. I forgot the story, but I do remember them saying it was not made from salt water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
