What is the big deal with red velvet cake?!

I like it alot!.!.!.!.it's just different!. You have to have it made from scratch with the unbelieveable frosting (the one made with the roux)!. These look like the right recipes for cake and frosting:

For one it is one of the most moist cakes that you can make while still being very dense!. This is because of the cup of buttermilk that is mixed into the batter!. The flavor is a combo of chocolate and vanilla - both cocoa and vanilla are in the recipe!. I personally love this cake more than any other hands down - it's a family tradition on birthdays and has always been very special because of that!. It's great too because Duncan Hines now has a boxed version that is very good and a heck of a lot easier and faster to make than the from scratch version as you might imagine!. My family doesn't use the cream cheese frosting that is so common though!. We use a butter, crisco, sugar, milk and vanilla frosting that sounds kind of bad but it is really light and accentuates the flavor of the cake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

But I suggest a homemade one over one in the grocery store that has sat on a shelf for several days!. Or maybe get one from a good bakery!.
