What types of food store for a year?!

Question: What types of food store for a year!?
Answers:
It depends on what you want to store them for and also how much you want to store and where it will be stored!. By that I mean - if you want to have quality food for everyday eating living and are storing it in a cabin or RV or such like and don't intend to lug it around with you - then good quality canned food and dried food - soups (Knorr dried soups are really good) - Mac N Cheese - rice with sauce - Plain rice - noodles- dried fruit - will work fine!. Canned tomatoes, fruit, Chili, Bean, veggies are all fine too!. Canned meats and such like can be stored but you need to make sure the area is dry and not too hot !. Rusty cans can cause Botulism which is really nasty!. Try to get the stuff as fresh as you can ( dated on cans)!. also make sure you store it in containers - plastic totes are fine - this will keep mice and other critters from getting into the dried stuff!. also don't forget to store a can opener!. Some people also store salt - pepper - hot sauce - ketchup- mustard and utensils etc!.

If you're building a survival type kit - natural disaster etc - I'd spend the extra and go with military style MRE's ( Meals Ready to Eat ) - They last a lot longer - come in really tough water tight bags and pack a lot of calories!. They are reasonably expensive but much better for that type of use!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
