Sweet potatoes with sprouts - safe to eat?!

Question: Sweet potatoes with sprouts - safe to eat!?
I have a ton of sweet potatoes, and 2 or 3 of them have a couple of purple sprouts coming from it!. I know regular white potatoes are unsafe to eat if they have begun to sprout, but I can't seem to determine if sweet potatoes are safe if they have a couple of tiny sprouts coming from them!. A couple of websites say "yes, they are safe" and a couple of websites say "no, they are not safe!." Does anyone know the answer from first-hand experience!? Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have never heard that sprouting potatoes are unsafe!. If I were you, I'd look for the _reason_ why those websites say they are not safe!.

FWIW, I've eaten numerous potatoes that were sprouting, and experienced no ill effects!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I didn't know white potatoes were not safe after a sprout grows!. I have eaten them all my life and still healthy so I say sweet potatoes are safe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
