Question: Chicken sitting in fridge for 4 days - safe!?
I bought fresh chicken at the store 4 or 5 days ago, and it's been sitting in the fridge ever since!. The package says today is the last safe day but hasn't it been too long!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes it's safe, even if it has a slight odor( which it probably will)!.
If it has an odor, carefully wash it with lemon juice and water ( carefully as not to splash water all over the place causing contamination to spread all over you kitchen)!.
The contamination is not because the chicken is old, but because all chicken should be handled properly!.

1 in 4 chickens have the Salmonella bacteria which is in the chicken whether it is fresh or old!.

Cook the chicken as you would normally!.
Internal temp of between 165 to 170F!.
You don't have to overcook the chicken because it has a slight odor!.
That temp kills the E!.coli and Salmonella bacteria!.

clean the meat in the sink with salt, clean the surface off,
More natural meat scent will happen!.

IS your fridge cold!? possibley more cold than the stores refrideration area!.

It's safe to eat, but I'd cook it then freeze it and figure what to do with it later!. Seal it properly for freezer storage and you can keep for up to three months!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
