When I was working as a chef back in the 1980's I was in Japan and worked there for a short time, pizza has always been a novelty item to them, it is more popular now (Pizza Huts abound), but we went to a place that had all kind of American posters and NY street names, but the place was called Mr Fuji's Pizzeria!.
We had one that was called the Fisherman's special ( a loose translation of the Japanese), it has fried baby squid, baby clams, smoked salmon, and uni (seaurchin) on it, it was not a strong, but sweet and very garlicy tomato sauce and no cheese but crumbled soft flavoured tofu!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
