Why do people get cravings for certain foods?!

Question: Why do people get cravings for certain foods!?
even as we speak i'm eating a bigmac!. i was really hungry, but couldn't see myself eating anything else!. i hardly eat bigmacs and it's not like i think they're that great!.

i know it has something to do with the carb content of the food, why i want it!. but my question is what is it in our bodies that tells us a specific food is needed!? how does the body just know and tell the brain!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
sometimes foods can trigger good memories, even if you aren't aware of them being triggered, your brain interprets this as a good thing and releases a chemical called dopamine it is one of the feel good chemicals of the brain!.
other odd food cravings could mean that the type of food craved contains a certain mineral or vitamin that is needed, after a previous experience of eating that type of food, your body knows that it has what you need therefore you crave!. like just a few min ago i wanted some cheese!. i had to drive to the store to get it but it was what i craved!. i know that my dad introduced me to cheese and my mother hated it, deep down cheese reminds me of my father!. and i probably need calciumWww@FoodAQ@Com

Compare it to how the body knows we need to sleep, or blink our eyes to keep them moisturized, it follows the same course!. When I was recently anemic, I craved ice--I ended up breaking a few teeth because I wanted to chew ice--cups and cups of ice!. Turns out that ice has iron in it, which is what I needed!. Sometimes we crave something and can't figure out why we want that item and nothing else will suffice!.
Your big macs have protein, carbs, even a bit of vegetables!. Maybe you hadn't eaten a rounded meal in a bit!? Desiring certain things is not just because it contains carbs; sometimes we eat because we are tired, angry, sad, etc!. The brain is where our memory is stored, so, it remembers what we like, what makes us feel good and what we need!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
