I think there are a hell of a lot of us who have to find ways of feeding a family for less than a fiver, and there are loads of ways to do it!. Shin or skirt beef is one of my fave basic ingredients for cheap meals!. I can regularly make 2-3 meals from one 3!.50 chicken form Asda!. How!? - one meal of roast meat as a Sunday dinner, then the remains on the carcass used as a curry, finally boil the carcass with onions potatoes and some milk and water and you have the basis of nice chicken soup that will take the edge off an appetite and provide a great starter or supper!. Then there is liver, kidney, and other forms of offal ok they are not everyones cup of tea but quite often that is because people have not tried them!. Mince meat is good and versatile and I'm sure most of us can do a lot better than Jamie Oliver if we just experiment a bit!. Fish has become very expensive but you can buy things like squid tubes very cheaply at chinese supermarkets and make a really nice fish risotto, or how about trying Cod's roe!? How about Macroni Cheese!? There are loads of meals for under a fiver, and youngsters need to start learning how to eat well and cheaply!. Things are starting to get ugly economically they will need to be able to economise!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A package of spaghetti noodles costs $1; you can get a large jar of spaghetti sauce for $2 (or less); and spend the rest on some ground meat for meatballs!.!.!.!.!.You'd get alot more for your $5 if you bought the ingredients and made it yourself (probably twice the amount of food than was in the pre-packaged kit)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Jaygee, The La Cordon Bleu culinary school recently went to a dollar store and purchased 5-10$ items and made 5 star dishes out of them!. I've had some of the best meals for and or less than 5 dollars!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i bet if you shopped somewhere else you'd make it for less than a fiver!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Dollars or Pounds!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
