Question: Other than Pam, what is best to brown meat with for flavour and to prevent sticking!?
Answers:
Pam is simply a spray version of vegetable oil, specific type depending on which you are using!.
You should brown your meat in regualr vegetable oil!. If you want flavor, you can brown some onions, garlic, leeks or other flavorful foods BEFORE browning the meat!. Consider putting pepper or even worchstershire sauce in the oil to add some flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you don't mind fat, fry a couple pieces of bacon in the pan, then the meat you want to brown!.
If you'd prefer to keep it low-fat, use canola or vegetable oil, but before you put the meat in the pan sprinkle Grill Time for steaks on both sides of the meat!.
If you don't have any Grill Time, just put a clove or two of garlic in the vegetable oil while it's heating up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use Maggi Liquid Seasoning!. You will get some sticking but if you put a little water or broth in the hot pan when finished browning, and put it back on the heat, the "stickies" will scrape up with a spatula!. Use these drippings in your sauce/gravy or while roasting for add'l flavor!. Drippings are great for soup base as well!. Freeze in ice cube trays and take out whatever amount you need for your dish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I prefer the combination of a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and a tablespoon of real butter!. I think it makes things taste better but thats just my personal preference!. Other wise for most baking, cooking I use SmartBalance 50/50 blend!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Crisco the one in the can!. I make a pot roast that I need to brown on both sides!. My pot roast is covered in flour so I make sure the crisco completely melts and is hot !.Www@FoodAQ@Com
