True Balsamic comes from the Modena region of Italy and has an appelation all it's own, which means that any balsamic-style vinegar that's not manufactured in Modena isn't true balsamic!. The main difference between it and other vinegars is that it's aged in oak casks, like wine!. This imparts a marvelous flavor, and once you've tried the real thing, you will never go back!. For things like salad dressing, any vinegar will work in a pinch, but if it's balsamic dressing you want, you have to use the proper vinegar or the flavor will not be there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Balsamic is a type of vinegar like red wine vinegar, White wine vinegar, malt vinegar, etc!.!. Balsamic was aged in wooden casks over in Italy!. Most of the time the stuff comes from a place called Medina, but it could be done anywhere!. The grapes used for Balsamic are Trebbiano grapes!. They say that the Balsamic in grocery stores in not like the "real thing" that is expensive!. I've never had the expensive stuff so I don't know what it tastes like!. Balsamic can be sweet and some people pour it on desserts!. I like balsamic glazed vegetables!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
