There is a salt substitute called Herbamare and another called Veggie Salt on the market here in Australia, both of which use other ingredients, along with salt, to reduce the quantity of salt you need!. There may be other products similar to this in your part of the world if they're not available where you are!. We get them in the health food section at the local supermarket!.

The other thing I always find very useful with stews and casseroles and stir fries (anything mixed) is to include extra garlic!. Garlic has a reasonable amount of sodium in it, but it is a better source than pure salt!. You can also use garlic powder on steak or chicken or the like, just be careful not to use garlic salt, which would defeat the purpose of substituting salt!.

I started using Herbamare when my father had heart surgery, and within a year my palate had changed and I didn't like things as salty, so I don't use it anymore, and I now use pure salt again (mostly probiotic sea salt imported from southern Europe), but in much smaller quantity!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Salt is good and natrual and we all need it to survive!. If you have too much salt in your diet, just try and cut back, and stop eating junk foods, as theses are positively overloaded with way too much salt!. Do not turn to artificial alternatives - these are even worse for your body than too much salt!. If you are looking to add more flavouring to your meals, try adding some herbs or spices, or ethnic seasonings to spice everything up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are looking to cut back on sodium, you can use sea salt!. You can buy it at alot of health food stores!. It is VERY salty in flavor (more so than regular salt), but has less sodium, plus you use less of it since it tastes saltier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Herbs and spices are good ways to flavour foods!. Some versatile ones are mixed herbs, thyme, rosemary, basil, coriander etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have high blood pressure and use lo-salt which, to me certainly, has no taste difference from ordinary salt, just less bad for you!
All the best!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
