Carb count on balsamic vinegar label?!
I just read the nutrition label on a bottle of balsamic vinegar I bought the other day!. It says its got 5 calories per 1 tablespoon serving!. Zero fat!. Zero Protein!. No surprises there!. It then goes on to say it's got 2 grams of total carbohydrate!. What!? The way I remember it from health class, carbs have 5 calories per gram!. If there are 5 calories, then there is 1 gram of carbs!. If there are 2 grams of carbs, then there will be 10 calories!. (Ok, if they had said there were 8 calories, and 2 g!. carbs!., I'd have assumed some rounding was going on!.) And then, just to punish myself, I keep reading!. The breakdown of the carbs says it it has 3 g!. of sugars!. What, what!? Sugars are part of the total carb!. count!. How does the sum of its parts equal MORE than the whole!? Not to mention that if there are 3 g!. of sugars in this stuff, then there are 15 calories per serving, and THREE grams of carbs!. Does anybody have an explanation for this!? If so, please share it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

interesting reading, that!. How about contacting the makers of the vinegar and asking thier consumer relations person!. You can be surprised at how much info they have for you!. Most companies are happy to answer questions and you should find a toll free number on the bottle of vinegar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Are you reading the label as "5 calories per 1 tablespoon serving", and then the overall figures are for the whole bottle surely!? then divide the overall figures by the number of tablespoons in the bottle!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Just go by what the bottle says!. There is 3 carbs per seving ( one tablespoon) So everytime you use one tablespoon, that will be 3 carbs!.
Use 2 tablespoons and that will be 6 carbs, so forth and so on!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you should read more books and less vinegar labels!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
