Best cheese for ham and cheese or turkey and cheese?!

Question: Best cheese for ham and cheese or turkey and cheese!?
I have always used American or cheddar cheese for sandwiches for my kids, but last week when we were out of cheddar I used havarti, the kids loved it so I have started using that instead!.

My MIL says that havarti "Isn't cheese that kids should be having!."

Are there cheeses that are better or worse for children!? And what cheese do you use to make sandwiches for your children!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I like Swiss with my ham or turkey!.
But what cheeses shouldn't a child have!?

How old is your MIL!?
She may be thinking of the days when Havarti came in unpasteurized!? Of course in Europe, unpasteurized cheeses are desirable!. Here they're frowned on!.
That eons ago!.
She's have to be in her 70's or 80's!.

Outside of that Havarti is as good as the rest of them!.
Kids also love Muenster Cheese!.

Havarti cheese is pasturized( where have you been)!?
In the USA it's illegal to sell unpasturized cheeses aged less then 60 days!.
Soft does not mean unpasturized!.
In fact the only unpasturized cheese you'll find in the USA are aged( with few exceptions)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is some controversy, believe it or not, with having pregnant moms eat softer cheeses, which the havarti is!. But as for your children eating it, they should be just fine!. See the following bit I copied from consumer affairs!. That is probably what she is referring to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think emmental is a yummy cheese and has a good flavour!. As for cheese and kids I've always let mine eat and try everything, my 9 year old loves creamy blue, don't think there is anything wrong with that unless she was eating a bloke a day which she isn't, let them explore flavours, I think its great for kids to be adventurous with foodWww@FoodAQ@Com
