Question: Off milk - to drink or not to drink - that is my question!!?
I've just poured some milk on my Weetabix + as soon as I opened the lid I could smell a weird smell!. The milk carton was only opened last night + the off date is June!. Do you think it is still alright to use!? ThanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well most of the time that smell means that its no good anymore!.!.!. but they are some occasions where it just smells like that but it really is normal!.!.!. so uhhm taste a little bit, if its bad!.!.!. you'll know and it wont hurt you!.!.!. and if its not bad then you'll be happy! lol good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't drink it - "weird smells" are usually accumulated bacteria!.

The batch might have been spoiled or contaminated when it was bottled!.

You should be able to take it back the market and get them replaced!.

If it's not worth it to take them back, throw the milk away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you must have uht milk!. If so it does smell awful and personally I can't stand it!. If you use it all the time and you think it smells DIFFERENT to what it normally does get rid of it all and make some toast love!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

best way to see is make a brew and if it floats on top throw it or give it someone u dont like lmao :) enjoy your weetabix if your milk is ok

if other milk you have opened smells the same i'd try a bit or just bin itWww@FoodAQ@Com

It won't kill you - just depends if you can stand the taste!. Sour milk is used in lots of recipes!. I can't stand milk in any condition - but unless it's been in a hot room for days it won't do you any harm!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No! if you think that the milk smells funky dont eat it! it sometimes happens when it get hot outside because when you leave the milk in a hot or even warm area for a while then it becomes spoiled!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I personally would bring them both back and buy a different brand!. I know sour milk is used in many recipes!.!.!.as I have done the same!. However, stinky milk on cereal or to dunk cookies in!.!.!.yuk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hahaha
ouuu well, i would day go for it!
try the dodgy milk nowt THAT bad will happen lol!.
Milk smells nasty anyway!.
And weetabix is too good to waste (:

should be ok if stored in fridge but it would put me of make some scones instead they say sour milk is best for thisWww@FoodAQ@Com

Taste it!. That won't kill you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Take it back to the store!.

What are weetabix!?!? We don't have them in US!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

to puke or not to puke, that is my answer!! xWww@FoodAQ@Com

I'd say taste itWww@FoodAQ@Com

What kind of milk can you get in late April with a June freshness date!? That's weird in an of itself!. I rarely see milk dated for more than 2 weeks from purchase!.

If the cows are on pasture, in spring they'll sometimes eat wild chives which can give the milk an 'oniony' smell!. It's harmless but tastes funny!. But it could be something else!. Mom's advice was always 'when in doubt, throw it out' - but if possible I'd call the manufacturer and give them the batch number!.

Update: If you're getting the non-refrigerated UHT milk, it may have a plastic-like off-taste!. (That's one of the reasons it doesn't sell well in the US!.) But if you're used to it that shouldn't seem 'weird!.'Www@FoodAQ@Com

are you in Holland by any chance!?

when I lived there I was really pee'd of when I kept trying to buy milk (when I first got there) every single carton was off and manky, I finally lost my temper marched down to the shop, where I found out the dutch actually love this milk and drink it!.!.!. YUK!!!!!!!

can't remember the name sorry!!! xx

edit !.!.!.!. carne melk!!!!! (my o/h remembers it well too!!!) ;-)

oh, in that case i don't know, I remember all my milk being 'normal' in France!!! ;-) I don't think they have carne melk!?!?!? (whereabouts are you!.!.!. I love France!!) xxWww@FoodAQ@Com
