Canape are small finger like foods!. Mostly served upon crackers or toast, hence the "canopy" term in the word!. It's pronounced the same way you read it out loud, CAN-A-PAY, there is an accent over the e so it has that "ay" sound!.
Normally they have savory tops to the toast, nice fish, cavier, cheese, spreads etc!.!.!. They are normally cut into cute shapes, triangles, squares circles and the bread is normally "stale"
