Genetically engineered foods - yes or no?!

Question: Genetically engineered foods - yes or no!?
The have various attributes from being pest resistant, weather hardy, and yielding better crops!. All together, a great plus for feeding the world!.
On the other hand, many worry about tampering with our food supply- after all we have to eat the results, and do not know the possible long term effects!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Our world produces enough food to feed everyone!. The real problem lies in distribution!. also, in places around the globe where farming is done, it is mostly done to produce a cash crop rather than to grow food for people locally!. Here is the best website I have food to explain what I am talking about, www!.foodfirst!.org/12myths!. I think once you read through this website you may think about corporations being interested in GMO food a little differently!.My main concern is, when a corporation owns something vital for survival where does that leave people who can't afford it!? Isn't that the same spot hungry people are in now!? Hope this is helpful!. There are lots of resources out there locally I'm sure!. Perhaps at a food co-op or resource center!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Absolutely not!. reasons:

1) Man does not know everything and he can not state with ABSOLUTE faith that there are no long term results!.

2) Whether you are religious or an atheist, one would have to agree on this point, if it has been here for eons, so it has to be the best and the most natural!.

3) There has not been one SINGLE thing that man has tampered with food wise or medicine wise, that has not caused suffering to others!.

4) Again whether you believe in God or are an Atheist, "Mother Nature" has been around longer than man has and has been doing her "thing" and has continued to do her "thing" and will continue to do her "thing" long after man has destroyed himself!.

Man can not Create!. He can manipulate, he can borrow, or he can take away or add to!.!.!. but he can not create, therein he can not truly make a perfect creation!.

P!.S!. Most consumers are unaware tha tthey have been "tampered" foods for nearly a decade and that a lot of the foods that they eat are genetically altered product!. More than 50 percent of all grains are GT and about nearly 70 percent of tomatoes and citrus!. About 30-45 percent of other widely used fruits and veggies have been tampered with!. The laws have been "altered" to allow manufactors, stores and farmers to get away with it!. One of the ":laws" does not consider that foods grown from seeds gotten from tampered plants need to be labeled as such!. And also if the tampered item is not a certain percentage of the product it does not need to be labeled!. I have a feeling you might of already known that or suspected that by your question!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, I think genetically engineered foods are great!. If it tastes good, and is the right price, I'll eat it!. Genetically modified organism play an important role in modern times!. For example, many diabetics use insulin produced by genetically modified bacteria!. Several European countries have banned genetically engineered foods, but that doesn't bother me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think that this is a big issue right now- people all over the world are starving, which only means that it is a considerable risk to take!. What if there was some unforseen problem with the long-term reproduction or nutritive qualities!?

What I think we should do is keep some strains of untouched food around just in case!. The only problem is that there may not be any left at this point anyways!. Humans have changed the earth so much already that you have to wonder if we're already digging too deep!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, there are to many negative options that can from it!. Our bodies need building blocks to be healthy and strong so that we can resist the afflications that come from the changes in our enviroment!. Nature can only be so tampered with!. This could be extreme, however look at foods that are cheap, fill you up, and have little nutritional values effect!.!. (obesity) Perhaps we need to find a way to produce strong foods filled with nutrients, so we require less consumption!. When our bodies have what it needs, it asks for less by design!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The DNA you eat does not affect you!.
You eat cow DNA every time you eat a burger, potato DNA with your chips!.!.!. whether it's modified or not!. You digest it and break it down into basic nucleic acids!.
Since modified DNA is the name nucleic acids, just in different orders!.!.!. there is no reason to think it will affect you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Perhaps, but we definitely know the results of not eating!.

If you are privileged enough to not have to worry about that, then good for you!. BILLIONS of people depend on genetically engineered crops to survive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't like it!. But they already exist in our food supply, and without clear indications!.
Should be illegal to sell without warnings, but our leaders guess just don't care!.
I grow my own food now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

overall, no!. like I won't eat them!.

But, if it is a matter of producing cheap, durable crops that can save people from starvation i think it is worth it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

noooo! Statistically, engineered foods do not grow better!. naturally grown plants grow better, and taste better too!!!!!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I really want to try Vat-grown meat!. Why not!? Even if you aren't a vegetarian, the cost and health risk of raising cattle would be eliminated!. Vat-meat would be safer than mad-cow diseased cattle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

hm, i dont really know enuff about the subject to give a real answer!.
but assuming by ur pic, ur a chef!. what do u think!?

its sounds kewl, but kindov risky!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I try to avoid GMOs!. It's not like our government has proven trustworthy!. Nor will big business, who has a vested interest in the product, be responsible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you need to be more specific!. Pretty much ALL food is genetically engineered in some way and has been for 100s of years!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

as long as people are alerted to the fact before eating them!. me personally i dont think there is enough studies done to proove that there no long term effects from these foodsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Studies now show conclusively that crop yields for GM seeds are lower, not higher!. Companies like Monsanto hid this information to trick farmers into buying their GM seed!. What else are they not telling us!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes to GMO!. I hate it when people think all natural is better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
