Barbecuing with the lid down advice please?!

Question: Barbecuing with the lid down advice please!?
I'm doing beer butt chicken on the barbie tonight!.
If I'm cooking with lid closed on the barbecue do I open the vents on the lid,or would that let heat out!?
The base has vents too so it would get air in that way!.
The coals are hot and I've just put the chicken on so help please!(should have asked this before)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Leave the vents and lid closed!.The base vents are enough!.
That's how I do mine and have no problems!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds like the chicken will be fine with the lid down because of the other air vents- so the fire should not go out!. It will be nice and moist!. Try cooking an aluminum foil pouch with it full of vegetables and spices as a side dish!. Its delicious!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The coals have to have oxygen to stay lit so you need to let the air in and also have a way out!. Keep both vents slightly open!. Close them both to extinguish your coals when your doneWww@FoodAQ@Com
