my friend says there made of pigs intestines and parts they dont use and my dad says they are made from pigs lips and "butts" but he usefd a diffrent word for butt

Pig/Beef Snout
Salivary Glands
Lymph nodes
Intestine
Connective tissue
I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, that all of this is ground up into a homogeneous paste and forced into edible semi permeable dialysis tubing (that's the outside) then cooked and packaged!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
So, in essence (pun intended), they use every thing from the squeak to the tail!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

They are all different!. The beef ones may say all beef, but technically any part of the cow is beef, so I wouldn't be surprised it they had weird parts of the cow!. The basic weiners, with a mixture of chicken and pork: Read on the ingredients and if it says "mechanically seperated chicken" (or pork) then they are definitely made with all the parts that weren't used any other way!. My stepdad used to work in a factory that did everything from killing the chickens, to butchering, to making hot dogs and chicken nuggets!. (some chicken nuggets are made out of this same stuff!. the cheaper ones that aren't all white meat!.) He told me that after they have taken the parts of the chicken they can sell, they take what is left (this would include everything but the feathers that you wouldn't find on a whole roasting chicken in the supermarket)!. They throw all these "parts" into a big grinder that grinds them up!.!.!.somehow (I forget how he said) they sort the bones out of it all and then the "meat'' thats left gets mixed with some other ingredients (seasoning, starch, etc!.) then they shape the hot dogs by putting this mixture into a tube (I won't say what THAT is) and they cook it and remove the skins before packaging!. So that's what a hot dog is made of! (I don't eat them anymore, btw, since I heard this story!)Www@FoodAQ@Com
