Hi!. BTDT both as an underweight child and as the mother of one (4 1/2 years old and 25 lbs!.) One thing that helped *me* was to drink a slimfast or carnation shake in addition to 3 regular meals!. Your DD is drinking pediasure so that is probably good enough but try to make sure she is doing it in addition to meals rather than in place of (I know, I know when they won't EAT three meals a day!.!.!.!.*sigh*) Think of some healthy snacks she likes that are also a good source of fat calories!. Cheese and yogurt (buy the stoneyfield farms whole milk kind, not the low fat dannon) can be good snacks, carbs like bread with peanut butter are also excellent!. Will she eat ramen noodles!? My picky eater loves them and while I don't serve them daily it is a nice treat and I add some whole wheat cheese toast and fruit as sides!. Have you had her tested for food allergies!? If she is allergic to a food/ingredient then she may not be digesting properly and therefore missing calories!. And, FWIW, she will probably overcome it!. *ahem* I did :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Take her to a pediatrician to discuss this problem further!. It is not usual for a child to only eat a spoonful of food!. It is possible that she has some digestive issue that has been overlooked!.
What kind of protein are you giving her!? Meat!? Soy!? Are you a vegetarian or a meat eater!? She needs some kind of protein!. It isn't about giving her "what she likes!." It's about giving her a healthy, well-balanced meal!. What kind of vegetables are you giving her!? A child should be getting plenty of fresh fruit, and plenty of fresh vegetables!.
As far as "tips" you can do- it sounds like you are just looking for an easy way to get some weight on her!. That is not the best idea!. That won't mean that she is healthy!. Like I said, she needs plenty of fresh produce, and healthy protein of some sort!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If her pediatrician isn't worried, then you shouldn't be either !.!.!.!. She could just be small-boned, or will soon have a growth/eating spurt !.!.!.!.!. And, of course, adding fast foods or candy to her diet isn't healthy! Does she like mashed potatoes, or baked potatoes!? Breyer's ice cream is only pure ingredients, and would be a good dessert for her !.!.!.Bananas are a good fruit for her to eat!.!.!.Mac & cheese!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
A daily meal of a one pound burger topped with 6 slices of bacon fried in fatback and 8 slices of cheese sandwiched between two Krispy Kreme donuts should do it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'm thinking the best person to ask for advice on this is family doctor/pediatricianWww@FoodAQ@Com
