An excellent question! Believe it or not, the bacteria found on your feet is the same bacteria used to make cheese!. I saw it on the "Discover Channel"!.

Some scientist were trying to figure out the mechanism by which mosquitoes were attracted to us!. They made the serendipitous discover that the mosquitoes were attracted to the smell of bacteria in cheese, which turned out to be the reason for why they are attracted to us!.

As for the holes: I found this on wikipedia!.!.!.!.!.!.

"Three types of bacteria are used in the production of Emmental cheese: Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus (L!. helveticus or L!. bulgaricus), and Propionibacter (P!. freudenreichii or P!. shermani)!. In a late stage of cheese production, the Propionibacter consumes the lactic acid excreted by the other bacteria, and releases carbon dioxide gas, which slowly forms the bubbles that develop the eyes!. Swiss cheese without eyes is known as "blind!.""Www@FoodAQ@Com
