What are your favourite traditional British dishes?!


Question: What are your favourite traditional British dishes!?
I'm doing some research on traditional British cuisine and I'd like to know what your favourite dishes are please!?

Specifically old recipes like your Gran would cook!. For example: Shepherd's Pie, Rhubarb Crumble, Bread Pudding etc!.

Pies - love them all!. Shepards, cottage, steak, mince beef and onion from the chippy!.

Pie n mash with liquer!.

Sausage and mash, bubble and squeak, full English with sausages bacon, eggs, baked beans, black pudding and fried bread!. Big pot of tea and four rounds of toast!.

Puddings - Sticky toffee, apple crumble, rhubarb crumble, spotted dick, jam roly poly - all with lashings of custard!.

The legend of all dishes - Roast beef, roast potatos, swede, sprouts, roasted parsnips, chipolatas wrapped in bacon and gravy made with the beef juices!. Heaven!.

I think even the simple stuff like egg n chips, beans on toast is great!.

My favourite is sunday dinner - roasted meat, roast potatoes,veg, gravy etc!. I love bread sauce with chicken (apple sauce with pork, mint sauce with lamb and horseradish sauce and yorkshire puddings with beef)

My Nanna used to cook stuffed sheeps hearts - delicious!. And ******* ( a sort of meat ball thing in gravy, but is also a word that is not allowed apparently!) Kidneys and mushrooms with gin and juniper berries in a cream sauce!.

Shepards/Cumberland/Cottage Pie (Shepards is topped with mash potato & has minced lamb, Cumberland the same but has melted cheese & breadcrumb topping on top of the potato, Cottage is minced beef & potato)

Liver and Bacon casserole for me with a nice thick red onion gravy served with Creamy Mashed Potato and boiled Spring Greens!.

Followed by my late Gran's Rhubarb Crumble with Cold Custard!.

The British cuisine is so often knocked by other countries but it's just as diverse and regional as any other place on earth and us Brits should justifiably be proud of it :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

My mum is Swiss so I wasnt brought up on English food but my favourite now is either roast beef or chicken!.!.with all the trimmings, of course!.
There are some wonderful English dishes like
fish n chips
toad in the hole
shepherds pie
liver n bacon
steak pie

I really like roast beef, with Yorkshire pudding, roast potato's and either leeks or shallots, or both!
