How can you tell when a pineapple is good?!
What do you look for!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Many people think that if you can easily pull a leaf out of the crown, the pineapple is ripe, but this test doesn't tell you anything useful!.
To begin with, select a pineapple that is plump and fresh looking!. When selecting fresh pineapple, opt for those that feel slightly soft to touch, are heavy for their size and do not contain any bruising or brown spots!. Smell the stem end -- it should be sweet and aromatic, not heavy or fermented!. When selecting a pineapple, choose one with fresh green leaves and a fragrant scent!. Avoid fruit that is old looking, dry or with brown leaves!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

orange-yellow coloration (never green), should smell fragrant like pineapple, should not be too soft to the touch or mushy when you pick it up!. That old tale of the top leaves being pulled out easily is not a good indication of good pineapple!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I watched a cooking show, and the chef said that the basic way to tell was to see if the pineapple skin turned the orange-ish color!. After the skin has changed color, you should then be able to remove one of the top leaves easily!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You can tell if it's good if you smell it!. It will smell delicious right through the skin! Try this with cantalope too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
