In the food industry they're known as "jimmies"!.!.!.!.!.!.
"Sprinkles" in the food industry refer to a more crystalized sugar topping!.!.!.!.!.these are "burnished" to be smooth (jimmies) but things like sanding sugar would fall into the category of "sprinkles"!. Enjoy!!!

In Britain, we call the "sparnunkles", tad chewy morsels of confectioner's sugar!. I love sparnunkles ontop of butter-pecan ice chips!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
