Answers:
If there are no ripe avocados at the store (you don't waant them too soft, or they'll be mushy inside) (mind you it depends what you are using them for, if it's for guacamolee, softer is fine, if it's to slice for making sushi rolls or slicing for something else, you want a bit firmer so it doesn't fall apart on you!.)
If they aren't ripe yet when you buy them, put them in a paper bag with some ripe bananas and leave them at room temperature!. The gas from the ripe bananas will speed up ripening!.
As for being open already, if you need it right away, you're not in luck!. If you can wait until next day but can't get to the store to get a ripe one, try rubbing the exposed parts of the avocado in lemon juice (to keep it from going brown), put it back together again, in the peel, WITH the seed, wrap it in saran wrap and put it in a bag with ripe bananas at room temperature!. See what happens!. (I've only ever ripened whole ones, not already cut)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, it will begin to rot!. Keep it out of the fridge for a couple of days!. If it gets dark it is beginning to rot!. Throw away!.

Next time buy avacados that are soft to squeeze Okay!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
