Never had a yam, and YOU probably never did either!. It's a South American and African root vegetable whose name was confused by southern slaves with our native sweet potatoes!. The name stuck but we only have sweet potatoes in the states!.

also, many people confuse the white and orange sweet potatoes calling one a yam and the other a sweet potato!. They are BOTH sweet potatoes, just different varieties!. I think the orange is FAR more flavorful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well i personally prefer sweet potatoes!.!.!.!.!. theyre really nice of u wrap them in alfoil and put then in a fire and i think you put a bit of butter in there aswell, theyre beautiful like that, you can open the skin and just eat the delicious creamy inside!!!! YUM i have a craving now!!!!! try it!.!.!.
